Goodbye Psystar, I never knew you..

By Teejay Valerio (Dec 3, 2009)

I've had MacOS 10 running on my of my partitions on one of my desktops for just about a year now. Is it impressive? Could be. Is it a life changer? Meh. To tell you the truth, I haven't really felt the need to consistently run the 'highly touted' Apple OS on a daily basis. What does the 'Empire' have to say about people like myself who run their software on Mac Clones? Read on for today's morning tidbit about the Apple and Psystar fight.

Ahh Apple... the Evil Empire strikes back. Forcing Psystar into settlement is going to pretty much end the sale of commecial Mac clones. Apple is looking to terminate Rebel EFI altogether. While I understand that OS10 is solely theirs, i'm a bit disappointed with the way that Apple tries to force its propriatary systems down our throats. First off, their machines already cost as much as a kidney on the black market (don't ask me how I know, I just do). Throw in the fact that they use really generic parts (Intel i5's and i7's, ATI gpus, generic SSD's and HDD's), that require ridiculous drivers in order to be accessible. You get the same hardware in a PC that costs more than 50% less, yet they market these systems that 'Just Work' as some sort of higher end computers that are unattainable and godlike.

I'm not here to ramble on about Apple's pricepoints. I'm not insulting those who purchase Apple products and are knowledgeable about what they are buying. I'm just sad that there are those who purchase these systems are very apologetic about what they buy; yet know next to nothing about the actual innards of these computers. With that said, it's obvious that one doesn't have to know HOW a computer ticks (in fact that's the ideal situation for end users), but being blatantly fed lies about why Apple computers are superior to PC's in every way is low and completely unacceptable.

Shame on you Apple, shame on you.

(I was going to write a lot more, but it would've turned into pure Apple bashing. I can't really do that, I don't dislike the company or their products, although some of their practices are questionable).
